This ship is so large that it doesn’t just have decks, it has entire neighborhoods! The world recently welcomed the largest cruise ship to date, Royal Caribbean International’s Symphony of the Seas. Surpassing its sister ships in size and innovative features, Symphony of the Seas has set a new standard when it comes to mega-ship cruising. Are you excited, yet? If you don’t know what all the fuss is about, our 7 Things You Can Only Find on Symphony of the Seas might have you racing to your travel agent to book a trip on this brand-new ship.
7 Things You Can Only Find on Symphony of the Seas
The Ultimate Family Suite
The family vacation just got an upgrade. The new two-story family suite on Symphony of the Seas will change how you and the kids cruise. This high-tech stateroom comes complete with a personal cinema featuring an 85 inch, 4K television with a wide selection of movies and video games. An in-cabin slide, table games, a Lego wall, and other engaging activities fill this 1300 square foot palace. The suite also boasts a wraparound balcony with loungers meaning you never have to leave your accommodations to relax or enjoy the sun. Oh, did we mention there is also a personal whirlpool with this suite?
Flight: Dare to Dream
The Oasis-class ships are known for being entertainment innovators, and the new stage production show Flight: Dare to Dream looks to push the envelope yet again when it comes to cruise ship performances. This inspiring tale of man’s journey to leave the ground includes 3D projection technology and automation to engulf guests in the show. Special effects will transport the audience to space as the performance will simulate zero-gravity with actors floating across the stage in this out-of-the-world show on Symphony of the Seas.
Indoor Laser Tag
It is a Battle for Planet Z. It’s bots versus aliens, so pick a side and get ready to battle in the first laser tag on a mega-ship. This first at sea attraction on Royal Caribbean takes place in Studio B on select days and times. Decked out in neon lights, this course has a futuristic design to challenge the young and young at heart alike. This included activity is open to cruisers five years or older. Reservations are not available, so it is first come, first blast in this family-friendly game. Do you have what it takes to emerge victoriously?
Hiro
The newest acrobatic and dive show coming to the Aqua Theater on Symphony of the Seas might be the most spectacular show yet. According to Royal Caribbean, the new Hiro show will break the mold when it comes to your typical Aqua show. The company promises that “no two shows will be the same”. The choreography and stunts are sure to surpass the feats that are found in the Aqua shows featured on other Oasis-class ships. While we are not sure what to expect from this new performance, we suspect it will be unlike anything ever seen before at sea.
Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade
It’s game time on the Boardwalk. New to Symphony of the Seas is this home-style pub taking over the port side of the Boardwalk. The venue will be serving up signature bites like Buffalo wings, popcorn shrimp, and sliders while your favorite game is playing in the background. With a variety of table games, billiards, high-definition televisions, and plenty of drinks, this new pub is your man-cave at sea. Whether you stop by to catch your favorite sports team, challenge some new friends to a game, or just chill with a drink in hand, Playmakers Sports Bar is bound to be a hit with many cruisers.
Hooked Seafood
Another first for Royal Caribbean is the seafood lover’s specialty restaurant, Hooked. Located on Deck 16 in the Solarium, this casual restaurant will give cruisers a bird’s eye view of the ocean while dining. Delivering New England style specialties in a cozy atmosphere, cruisers can dine here for an up-charge for either lunch or dinner. You can bet that we will be testing out this venue on our upcoming November 2018 cruise. Advertised specialties include crab legs, oysters, and a whole Maine lobster.
The Ultimate Abyss with a Twist
This ten-story slide is not for the faint of heart. The Ultimate Abyss technically debuted on Symphony of the Seas’ sister, Harmony of the Seas, but is still a thrilling experience. Royal Caribbean has also been teasing that the slide on Symphony of the Seas includes a brand new “twist”. We will have to wait our turn to see exactly how the slide differs from its sister ship. The Princess and I raced down the Ultimate Abyss last year and survived. So, are you ready for the plunge?
Along with all of these new features, the ship boasts plenty of fan favorites as well. All of the Oasis-class amenities like the Rising Tide Bar, Central Park, and the Perfect Storm waterslides are here too, not to mention a two-story Wonderland and a zip line. There is certainly something for everyone on Royal Caribbean’s brand new mega-ship. Are you ready to set sail on Symphony of the Seas?

What specifically did you do in Bermuda?
DB
Hi April, thanks for the question. We did a Bermuda cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas. We spent two days on the island. On the first day, we did a ferry ride to St. George to do a walking tour and the beach. On the second day, we went to Eagle Beach. Let us know if you have any other questions.
