Could Virgin Voyages be planning itineraries out of the West Coast? Some speculation indicates this might happen in 2025.

Virgin Voyages Delays Brilliant Lady

Could Virgin Voyages Be Planning Itineraries Out of the West Coast?

Virgin Voyages is in the midst of adjusting schedules for some of its ships. And some internet sleuthing indicates that its roster could include the west coast in 2025. A user on the Virgin Voyages subreddit posted a screenshot from Ports America in Los Angeles, which seemingly indicates that the port plans to have a Virgin Voyages ship on the schedule in 2025.

The screenshot shows turnaround calls for Scarlet Lady on Saturday, May 31, 2025 and Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at the port. A turnaround call means that the cruise will be beginning and ending in that port. The screenshot was from February 21, 2024. However, at the time of this writing, the schedule no longer shows the Virgin Voyages calls.

However, other reddit users indicate confidence that it could be credible. User xjaspx said “Port of Los Angeles has a habit of putting ships on the port schedule before the cruise line announces anything… only to delete it and a few months later an announcement is made by the cruise line that they’re sailing out of that port.”

Xjaspx continued, “Most notable example was when they had Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas on the schedule for a couple days before deleting it… and than [sic] a year later they announced Navigator of the Seas is going to Los Angeles… using the same slot they had for Voyager. I think because they leaked it, they’re probably in talks with Virgin about having a ship going out of San Pedro.”

Other users speculated that even though the slot named Scarlet Lady, the line’s newest ship Brilliant Lady could actually be the ship that homeports there. It has the ability to transit the Panama Canal (which Virgin Voyages’ other ships can’t do). Users were also discussing what itinerary the ship might operate. Guesses include Alaska or Hawaii due to the large number of days between the two calls in LA.

While this is purely just a rumor based on a now-deleted listing on Los Angeles’ cruise call schedule, it does provide a glimmer of hope that Virgin Voyages is considering voyages out of southern California.

Other Virgin Voyages News

In other Virgin Voyages news, the cruise line has just canceled its 2024-2025 season in Australia, citing concerns with security in the Red Sea as the reason for the cancellation. Resilient Lady was planned to transit the Red Sea to get from the Mediterranean to the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean to ultimately arrive in Australia. Impacted guests will have the option to rebook on another sailing or receive a full refund.

Now, the ship will go from her Mediterranean season, which ends this October, to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the winter. From there, she will sail seven to 11-night Caribbean voyages.

Virgin Voyages has said that it is currently working on potential plans to return to Australia and the Asia Pacific region in the future. If it is able to return in 2025, those who were booked on the now-canceled Australia voyages will have priority if they choose to book on the new sailings in the region.

  1. Would love to have Virgin sail out of California. I’m a SoCal girly and would love to try new lines without incurring flight/lodging costs. If this rumor becomes reality, I’m booking ASAP.

Pleeeeeease, Virgin, pretty pleeeeeease, join us on the West Coast.
Virgin cruises/ships themselves are a destination. I don’t care all that much about the itinerary when the cruise itself and everything it has to offer is the best part. I’ll go anywhere on a Virgin cruise if it leaves from my home port of Long Beach/San Pedro. I hate the idea of spending around $1000-$1400 (for 2 people) and 12 hours of my life I’ll never get back on flights to and from Miami, then another $200-$400 for a night at a hotel just to board a cruise ship. I could be spending all that extra $$$ on upgrading the cruise boarding from my home port.
Pleeeeease, Virgin, with a Scarlet cherry on top? (she batted her eyes coyly)
