Disney Cruise Line’s brand-new private destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, welcomed its first guests on Friday.
Passengers on a special preview voyage aboard Disney Magic arrived at the Eleuthera, Bahamas destination for the first time on June 7th. The ship is currently on a three-night voyage out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Bloggers and travel media reported that the cruise dock at Lighthouse Point is almost half a mile long, which was constructed in accordance with government mandates designed to protect the environment. It’s also been shared that the walk from the ship down the pier and to the family beach at Lookout Cay is about 1.5 miles, and takes about 45 minutes. However, there is a tram once guests get on land to take them to the entrance of Lookout Cay. On the pier, there are also golf carts to help passengers who have difficulty walking such a distance, but reports say that Disney Cruise Line is working on other solutions for guests with mobility issues to get to the entrance of Lookout Cay.
At Lookout Cay, preview guests were treated to meet-and-greets with Pluto, Chip and Dale, and Goofy during a Fun in the Sun Beach Bash, and had the opportunity to enjoy the RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration parade featuring local dancers. Kid-friendly activities including a ring toss, water brigade, and limbo also took place.
The destination is also introducing a brand-new original song produced in collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering and two local Bahamian producers called “Ery-ting Cool.”
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will welcome its official inaugural guests on June 10th when Disney Fantasy arrives during a seven-night cruise out of Port Canaveral that departs today. The voyage actually includes a second stop at Lighthouse Point on June 13th, as well as visits to Nassau and Disney’s other private destination — Castaway Cay.
This summer, Disney Magic and Fantasy will offer a variety of three to seven-night cruises that visit Lighthouse Point.
