Some newbie cruisers might be worried that they will be bored on a cruise ship! I know, this just sounds funny to us as we are always saying that there is not enough time to enjoy everything onboard most ships. Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas is a prime example. In fact, as the largest class of cruise ship afloat, there is so much to do and see that it is difficult to squeeze everything into a 7 day cruise. Don’t worry; after our recent sailing, we managed to come up with our list of the Top 25 Things to do on Oasis of the Seas. Did we have time for sleep? Well, that is slightly overrated anyway.
Top 25 Things to Do on Oasis of the Seas
Catch a Broadway Show
Featuring a full production of the Broadway hit CATS as well as a Royal Caribbean original production entitled Come Fly with Me, the main theater is an entertainment hub. You don’t have to pay for tickets to these shows as they are included in your cruise fare. However, we highly suggest you make reservations prior to your sailing using the cruise planner. You don’t want to miss the show!

Sing a Tune
The On Air Club on deck 5 offers nightly karaoke, along with regular dance lessons, game shows, and other music related trivia. Even if you are not brave enough to participate in these activities, grab a seat in the back of the venue as people watching here is equally entertaining. Either way, a stop in the On Air Club is one of our top things to do on Oasis of the Seas.

Sharpen Your Blades
Want to skate on real ice while cruising the Caribbean? On select sea days, Studio B on deck 4 is open for some free skating. If you’d rather leave the skating to the professionals, check out Frozen in Time, an ice show inspired by the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. This ice show is shown most nights of the cruise and is available for pre-booking.

Putt a Round
We don’t mean to aimlessly walk around the ship; although, you could easily spend an afternoon getting lost on this massive vessel. For us, “putting a round” means playing a few friendly mini-golf games during our cruise. I’m not going to say who is the reigning champ, but a round of mini-golf should be on your list of things to do on Oasis of the Seas too.
Things to Do on Oasis of the Seas – FOUR!
Get Some Beach Time…Onboard
Oasis of the Seas has not one, not two, but 5 pools. Whether you like to let your competitive side shine through at the Sports Pool or you want to have some family time in the H20 Zone, you are sure to find a pool spot that you will love. For us, that was the Beach Pool. With umbrellas, bright colors, and a fun design, it makes you feel like you are literally at the beach instead of sailing on one of the largest ships in the world!

Find Some Quiet Time
On a ship as large as Oasis of the Seas, you might think that you will never find any peace and quiet, but you would be wrong. One of our favorite hideaways were the chairs on deck five. Shaded and relatively unused during the day, they were the perfect escape. Also search out the shuffleboard area behind the Aqua Theater. The unparalleled views from these locations are worthy of multiple photos.

Sip a Starbucks Coffee at Sea
If you are a coffee lover, you need your java even on vacation. On Oasis of the Seas, you can get your caffeine fix at one of the only free standing Starbucks at sea. Yes, all four ships in the Oasis class brew up coffee, espresso, and Starbucks’ famous Frapaccinos. Note: Starbucks is not included in the Royal Caribbean beverage packages.

Have Some Adult Time in the Solarium
Sometimes you just want a tranquil retreat while on vacation. That is why the Solarium on deck 15, an adults only pool area, is your oasis at sea on Oasis of the Seas. With a cafe, bar, and some comfy wicker chairs, you can relax and unwind sans children. The Solarium offers unaltered views of the ocean, so a few mornings or lazy afternoons in this sanctuary are definitely a must.

A Night in the Park
Central Park is one of the most unique public areas on any cruise ship with its lush greenery. Nestled in the middle of deck 8, you will almost forget that you are cruising on one of the world’s most innovative ships. Here, you are just taking a stroll in the park. While the daytime is perfect for grabbing a bite to eat in the Park Cafe, an evening at the Trellis Bar will give you a new perspective of this space.

Dive into the Evening
With five pools onboard, there are plenty of swimming options, but the best pool is off limits to guests as the Aqua Theater on deck 6 is reserved for some amazing diving shows. On the first few nights of your cruise, the Oasis of Dreams show transforms this space with a mixture of music, light, and of course diving. During the day, the Aqua Theater hosts a few other shows including the cruiser favorite, the Belly Flop Contest.

Fly Through the Air
Being the first ship to offer a zip line, this is a must for any adrenaline junkie. At over 80 feet long and 9 stories high, you will feel the rush of the wind as you zoom over the Boardwalk for this exhilarating ride. Albeit a short ride, it is worth the time to gear up for this adventure ride. You do need to sign a waiver, which you can complete on your television before heading up to deck 16.

Have a Special Dinner
The main dining room is elegant and serves up a superb dinner 7 nights of your cruise, but reserving a night to try one of the specialty restaurants can make your trip feel a bit more special. Chops, the line’s signature steakhouse, or Giovanni’s Table can give you an authentic experience along with some great food. Other options include 150 Central Park, Chef’s Table, Izumi, Sabor, and the healthier options at the Solarium Bistro.

Grab a Dog (or 5)
One of our favorite areas on Oasis of the Seas is the Boardwalk. Located aft on deck 6, you might just find me enjoying one of the hot dogs from the Boardwalk Dog House on many of afternoons. With 5 international dogs to choose from and several toppings to add-on, this complimentary snack option gives you an excuse to keep coming back for more. After all, what’s a cruise without a little weight gain?

Ride the Carousel
Even though we don’t have kids, it doesn’t mean we can’t get in on the fun. And, nothing is more fun or iconic than a ride on the Oasis of the Seas carousel. A spin on these hand carved horses will certainly make you feel like a kid again. Afterwards, you can head over to the ice cream parlor for a sweet treat (additional charges apply) or make your way to the arcade for some good old Boardwalk fun.
Be King of the World
If only Leonardo DiCaprio could see you know. If you want to feel like you are king of the world, then head to deck 14 and the “secret sun deck”. Walk all the way forward on the portside, and you will discover the “wings”. Seeing the ship from this perspective is one of the most jaw-dropping things to do on Oasis of the Seas. Not many people know about this spot, and after you discover it, you too may want to keep the secret all to yourself.

Prance around the Promenade at Night
Who doesn’t love a parade? Or, perhaps you fancy a dance party? On certain evenings of your cruise, Royal Caribbean goes all out turning the Royal Promenade into one huge entertainment hub. You can groove to the 70’s Disco Party complete with the Macho Man or don your finest whites for the White Dance Party. Saving the best for last, the Promenade comes alive with the Dreamworks Move it, Move it Parade on the last night of your cruise. Attending one of these popular events is mandatory; going to all three is just plain fun!

Go for a Run
With all the eating and drinking you are sure to do on your cruise, burning some extra calories is not a bad idea. Increasing your steps is one of the easiest things to do on Oasis of the Seas. You can simply roam around the ship or get in some serious miles with the jogging track on Deck 5. This is a much nicer spot than the typical running track on the crowded pool deck. Here, you have nothing but ocean views and wide open deck space.

Breakfast with a View
Even if you don’t have a balcony, you can still experience a made to order breakfast in some open air seating at one of two venues. On most sea days, Johnny Rockets offers a complimentary sit down breakfast from 8:30am to 10:15am. The fresh breakfast, friendly waitstaff, and views are worth the often short wait. Or, you could head up to deck 15 to the Wipeout Cafe. There, you can pick from some typical breakfast items at the buffet or order a custom made omelette. This is the only buffet that offers this feature on Oasis of the Seas.

Scale a Wall
A rock wall that is! Oasis of the Seas is home to the tallest rock climbing wall at sea; two of them to be precise. They both offer challenging routes to test even the strongest climbers out there. For those of us that are in not so great shape, don’t be surprised when you see little kids fly by you rocketing to the top in no time. You can always drown your sorrows in the not so far away Sabor bar when you are done.

Chow Down on a Kummelweck Sandwich
It wouldn’t be a cruise on Oasis of the Seas without a few stops at the Park Cafe. While the breakfast sandwiches are perfect for an on the run meal, lunch is really where this place shines. The famous Kummelweck roast beef sandwiches, sliced right in front of you, take lunch to a whole new level. Fresh salads, paninis, and other options are also available for the less carnivorous.

Hitch a Ride on the Rising Tide Bar
No, you haven’t had too much to drink (yet), this bar is moving. Spanning 3 decks, the Rising Tide Bar gives you a whole new drinking experience. Starting on Deck 5 in the Promenade and ending on Deck 8 in Central Park, this bar rises up and down at set intervals over the course of the night. Seating is limited, and there is no drink minimum, but you will want to try out the specialty drink menu.

Have a Few Laughs
You can have more than a few laughs at Comedy Central, the comedy club onboard Oasis of the Seas. Nightly shows feature two comedians, including a few “adult” shows at midnight. Purposely built to be small and intimate, we highly recommend making reservations before the cruise or you might miss out on the laughs as the shows book up fast. Don’t worry; the comedians’ sets are essentially the same regardless of which day/time you decide to join in on the fun.

Take Pictures with a Princess (and Ogre)
What could be better than a picture with a Princess? My very own Princess alongside Shrek and Princess Fiona. Don’t miss out on the photo ops with the cast from popular Dreamworks movies. Besides the Shrek characters, you can also find friends from Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon roaming around the ship. Some of these sessions allow you to use your own camera, while others are portrait studios only. Smile, it’s picture time!
UPDATE- Royal Caribbean has ended its partnership with Dreamworks.

Have a Fiesta
Located on Deck 6 in the Boardwalk, the Mexican restaurant Sabor serves up delectable drinks, homemade guacamole crafted table side, and other Tex-Mex favorites. The handmade margaritas are only available here and are included in the drink package. Food items are priced a la carte. Despite the small fee, we would definitely include grabbing some snacks and drinks at Sabor as one of our top things to do on Oasis of the Seas.
