With the first sailing just over a week away, Royal Caribbean finally shared the Adventure of the Seas health protocols late this afternoon. The cruise line stressed that these protocols are specific to this ship’s Bahamas sailings only. These procedures do NOT apply to the entire fleet. The cruise line will release protocols for other ships closer to their sailing dates.
Adventure of the Seas Health Protocols
Royal Caribbean will offer shuttle service from the airport to the cruise check-in location. For these Adventure of the Seas summer sailings in the Bahamas, the check-in location will be the British Colonial Hilton Nassau. These airport transfers are available for purchase online in the Cruise Planner.
Further, Royal Caribbean will offer complimentary shuttle service from the British Colonial Hilton to the cruise ship.
In addition, arriving guests can can advantage of a complimentary luggage transfer from the airport directly to the cruise port. Guests should keep all necessary documents and personal items on hand.
These benefits apply only to cruisers arriving on the day of the cruise. Travelers flying into Nassau early will need to arrange their own transportation to the hotel for check-in.
All cruisers should tag their luggage with cruise line issued luggage tags.
If you are already booked on Adventure of the Seas, then you likely know that there is a vaccine requirement. Vaccinations are required for all guests 16 years of age or older for sailings before August 1st. After August 1st, the vaccination requirement applies to all cruisers 12 years of age or older.
All vaccinated guests do need to show proof of vaccination along with other travel documents when boarding the ship.
Guests 12 years of age or younger do not need to be vaccinated. Although, they will receive SARS-Cov-2 test before boarding Adventure of the Seas.
The necessary documents for this cruise include:
- Bahamas Health Travel Visa
- RT-PCR negative test results (for unvaccinated guests age 10 years & up)
- Proof of Full Vaccination (for guests 16 years or older)
- Passport Book
- Health Attestation
Adventure of the Seas Testing Requirements
Travelers who are vaccinated, regardless of age, do not need to receive a COVID-19 test when boarding the vessel. These travelers also do not need a negative COVID-19 test to enter the Bahamas.
For guests that are unvaccinated, they need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within five days of arrival to the Bahamas. The cost of this test is the guest’s responsibility. On embarkation day, the guest will receive an additional test by the cruise line that is complimentary.
For re-entry into the United States, Royal Caribbean will administer a complimentary test on day 6 of the cruise. All guests, regardless of vaccination status, will need a negative COVID-19 test to re-enter the United States at this time.
There are no testing requirements for cruisers two years of age or younger.

Adventure of the Seas Face Masks Requirements
For individuals who have received a vaccination, there is no face mask requirement while onboard Adventure of the Seas. Face masks do not need to be worn while indoors or while on the outdoor decks.
In addition, there’s no face mask requirement for vaccinated guests while on Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Although, a face mask may be necessary at certain ports of call. Regardless of vaccination status, cruisers will need to comply with local regulations regarding face masks and social distancing.
Unvaccinated guests on Adventure of the Seas are not required to wear masks while outdoors on the ship or at Perfect Day at CocoCay. Although, there is a requirement for face masks outdoors in crowded settings.
Unvaccinated guests do not need to wear masks while in pools or during other activities where they could become wet.
However, cruisers that have not received the vaccination do need to wear a face mask while indoors. This requirement would apply to areas such as the promenade, shops, the theater, and other public indoor venues. The only exception is while seated and actively eating or drinking.
Similar to vaccinated guests, those without a vaccination do need to comply with face mask regulations at each port of call.
Adventure of the Seas Health Protocols for Events
When it comes to health protocols on Adventure of the Seas for dining and entertainment, most of these policies are similar to other cruise ships that are currently sailing.
For dining, Royal Caribbean will have spaced seating in all dining venues. The cruise line is also encouraging guests to make reservations for dining venues via the app or pre-cruise using the online Cruise Planner.
At entertainment venues, the cruise line will also have spaced seating, as well as reduced capacity. The cruise line will be offering additional showtimes for nightly entertainment.
Show reservations will be bookable via the Royal Caribbean app once individuals board the vessel.
At this time, there is no mention of social distancing procedures at other venues such as the pool deck, shops, or public areas like bars and lounges.
Shore Excursions on Adventure of the Seas
Finally, cruisers are not required to take Royal Caribbean shore excursions. Regardless of vaccination status, cruisers can “visit each port freely”. This would mean cruisers can book private tours. Or, cruisers can simply explore a destination on their own.
While in port, cruisers do need to comply with local health and safety protocols. These policies could include face masks, social distancing, and reduced capacity.

I’m confused, do all adult passengers need to be fully vaccinated or not? Does proof of antibodies suffice?
