The cruise cancellations keep coming! Following the CLIA update on Friday further extending the voluntary cruise suspension until September 15th, Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line both extended their cancellations on most ships until the end of September. So, it was no surprise that Royal Caribbean Extends its Suspension of Cruising as well.
In an official announcement this morning, Royal Caribbean Group provided further cancellations for all brands, including Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises through September 15, 2020. Interestingly enough, Royal Caribbean extended the suspension for its global fleet for most sailings only through September 15th even though competitor brands have extended until the end of September.
Royal Caribbean Updates
With a goal of resuming operations on September 16th, there are a few exceptions to be noted.
- Canada sailings will be suspended through October 31, 2020, due to the Canadian government’s extended travel ban on cruise ship travel.
- Bermuda sailings will be suspended through October 31st, 2020.
- Voyager of the Seas sailings will be suspended through September 30th.
- Spectrum of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas sailings will be suspended only through July 2020.
Passengers impacted by cruise cancellations will automatically receive 125% future cruise credit that can be applied to a cruise sailing before April 30, 2022 to be re-booked by December 31st, 2021.
Impacted guests could also choose to Lift and Shift their reservation to a 2021 date protecting the original price and/or promotion. The new cruise must be the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category as your original sailing within 4 weeks (before or after) of the original sail date.
Or, guests can complete the online refund request form and receive 100% refund to original form of payment within 45 days of request.
