Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah

For cruisers comparing the different stateroom options on Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, we have put together our Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah review.

Reviewing the deck plans, this portside balcony cabin on Disney Wish is considered a 04B category stateroom on deck 9. This balcony stateroom is located fairly midship right near a bank of elevators.

According to Disney Cruise Line’s website, a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is approximately 284 square feet and sleeps 4 to 5 guests. These cabins include a queen sized bed, an optional upper-berth single pull-down bed, and a single convertible sofa. Some also have a single wall pull-down bed for a 5th guest.

Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah Review

For our first sailing on Disney Wish earlier this year, we booked a guarantee deluxe oceanview stateroom with verandah. A couple weeks out from our sailing, we were assigned cabin 8194. This balcony stateroom was actually an accessible cabin, so it had plenty of space.

Needless to say, we were eager to see how this cabin compared in terms of size.

Being on deck 9, this cabin is pretty equidistant from the public spaces on the ship. The Grand Hall and main indoor venues start on deck 5, whereas the pool deck and accompanying outdoor spaces start on deck 11. Further, we never had any issues securing an elevator except on disembarkation day.

Layout of a Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom

At first glance, the increase in square footage is noticeable when comparing this Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah to balcony cabins from other cruise lines. While not as open as our previous accessible cabin, there was still plenty of space.

The theme of this cabin is Sleeping Beauty, which I liked better than the previous Princess and The Frog theme. The color palette is also rather subdued, with wood tones and mostly blue and white finishes.

Immediately entering our stateroom, the bathroom was to the left and the closet was to the right. There was also additional corner shelves for storage on the same wall as the closet.

Beyond the bathroom and closet was the queen bed. The queen bed was on the aft wall facing forward. There was a night stand on each side of the bed with a small drawer. Both sides of the bed had outlets for easy charging access. Across from the bed was the television.

Continuing past the bed, there was the sitting area and desk. The convertible sofa was to the left and the fairly large desk was to the right. The upper-berth pull-down bed is located above the sofa and the wall pull-down bed is located in cabinetry adjacent to the sofa.

Finally, there was the balcony. The size of the balcony is slightly larger than a typical balcony on modern day cruise ships. There is enough room for 2 upright chairs and a small round table.

Inside the Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah

Bathroom

The bathroom in this Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is a nice upgrade from comparable cabins on other cruise lines. It has the typical Disney Cruise Line split bathroom setup which is great for families. This includes a bathroom with a vanity, sink, and shower/tub combo and a half bathroom with a vanity, sink, and toilet.

The finishes are very neutral with wood tones, marble, and white tile. There is also adequate counter space and storage, with each vanity consisting of three small shelves off to one side.

The full-sized shower/tub combo features a glass door. There are also a couple additional shelves in the shower for storage.

Not to mention, the bathroom features Disney’s signature H2O+ products and a night light.

Closet

The closet in this stateroom has plenty of storage for a family during 3- and 4-day sailings. Two sections of the closet feature a clothes bar with hangers, while the third (middle) section features a series of shelves along with the safe. Life jackets and robes can also be found here.

Once again, this cabin has more storage than you typically find in most comparable staterooms on other cruise lines.

Not to mention, there are also two hooks in the room for hanging items like bags, jackets, or hats. Further, we always bring magnetic hooks and an over-the-door shoe organizer for additional storage space. However, we actually did not need the shoe organizer as there was plenty of space to store toiletries and other small items at the desk.

Main Cabin Area

The main area of this Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is certainly roomier than competitor cabins. There is also a privacy curtain to separate the sitting area from the bed, which would come in handy if you are traveling with kids.

The queen bed was comfortable and featured signature Disney bedding. We had no issues falling asleep after our long days and nights on the ship.

Further, there was a beautiful Sleeping Beauty mural above the bed and two art pieces in the sitting area.

We also appreciated the outlets near the bed for charging our phones and watches overnight. Specifically, one side of the bed has two USB outlets and one European outlet. The other side of the bed has two power outlets, two USB outlets, and one USB-C outlet.

The sitting area is adequate in size as well. The loveseat provided plenty of space for two adults, along with a small end table. The sofa converts to a single bed if needed. There is also an upper-berth pull-down bed above the sofa for a 4th guest. To your kids’ delight, a mural reveals itself when the upper-berth bed is pulled down!

Across the way is the desk. The desk is much larger than what you typically find in a balcony cabin on cruise ships. There are three long shelves and 3 shorter shelves above the desk for storage as well as 3 drawers and 1 cabinet below. Here, you will also find the hair dryer and the mini-fridge.

In terms of outlets, you will find one European, two American, 4 USB, and 1 USB-C outlets at the desk.

Closest to the balcony and adjacent to the sofa, there is additional cabinetry with a 5th sleeping arrangement and more storage.

Balcony

The balcony in this Disney Wish Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is slightly deeper than a balcony on mega-ships from contemporary cruise lines. It is adequate in size with enough room for two upright chairs and a small table. However, it is certainly not big enough for sun loungers.

Still, it was the perfect spot to enjoy the ocean breezes and watch our sail into and out of ports of call.
