Flowrider – If you are thinking of hanging ten on your next cruise, you do not need to book a trip to the Gold Coast of Australia. You can catch some waves on the Flowrider, a surf simulator found on many Royal Caribbean ships, including the newly released Harmony of the Seas. Pumping out gallons of water per second, this attraction allows riders to enjoy stand up surfing, or for the lesser skilled among us, boogie boarding. Ships offer open time blocks to try out this attraction, or you can opt for some private lessons. Either way, don’t be afraid to wipeout as you will remain safely onboard the ship.

Free Fall – 3, 2, 1, …. Hold on and get ready to scream on these fast paced waterslides. Getting cruisers’ hearts pumping on Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway, and the new Norwegian Escape, these duel body slides are sure to make any adrenaline junkie don a swimsuit and give it a try.
Aqua Loop Racing Slides on Norwegian Escape
You will race alongside your fellow cruisers in these three-story tall slides as the floor drops from right under your feet sending you spiraling. If your cruise mates can’t handle this excitement, they can relax in the cruise ship water park known as the Aqua Park that includes some tamer attractions, like an open body slide and a kids’ area. So, cross your arms and get ready for a slippery good time.
Power Drencher – It is the anticipation that will get to you with this saturating cruise ship water park attraction. Found on popular Carnival ships, including the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Magic, and Carnival Vista, the Power Drencher is a massive 300 gallon bucket that teeters over the ship’s WaterWorks area. If you are not paying attention, you could be the Drencher’s next victim. Filling up with water, it is only a matter of time until it tips, spilling water at an alarming speed. Don’t worry– this one is safe for you and the whole family. But, you may need to grab a few towels after experiencing this attraction!

Infinity Pool – Most lido deck pools are strategically placed in the middle of the ship. While this provides other cruisers a chance to look at the ocean, what about those who chose to take a dip? To rectify the situation, Viking Ocean Cruises’ new ships include one of the only infinity pools at sea. Appearing to fall right off the edge of the ship, the pool is cantilevered over the stern giving swimmers the perfect vantage point. Now you can relax in the pool without missing the view. If you are afraid of heights, no worries, there is still a main pool located in the center of the pool deck.

AquaDuck – Leave it to Disney Cruise Lines to be the first to bring a “roller coaster” to sea. The AquaDuck, found on Disney Magic, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy, is the only water slide at sea in which cruisers can experience the “ups and downs” of an amusement park ride. Spanning over 760 feet long and standing a towering four decks tall, this tube ride takes cruisers on a water-pumping, heart-thumping ride. This cruise ship water park ride even jets travelers over the edge of the ship in a clear plastic tube that lets you see down into the ocean. You just need to make sure your eyes are open for this one!
AquaDuck Coaster on Disney Magic
Splashaway Bay – All of these attractions sound great, but what about your little ones you ask? Well, while their older siblings are off enjoying the big waves produced by the Flowrider, young children can experience some of their own whitecaps. Found onboard Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, industry first wave pools are located in the H20 Zone. Also, the newest waterpark on Harmony of the Seas might be the best to date featuring water cannons, a jungle gym, and more. Your little ones are sure to love all the wet and wild fun that Royal Caribbean has to offer.
Watercolor Fantasy – The sights and sounds of the ocean can be soothing and calming for those travelers looking to relax while on vacation. But for those who want a little more pizazz from their at sea experiences, be sure to check out the Watercolor Fantasy shows featured on the Royal Princess and Regal Princess. These fantastic water displays, happening right on the pool decks, are colorful fountain shows set to choreographed music with some fountains shooting over thirty feet high into the night sky.
