Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas has just returned from a $115 million dollar revitalization. Navigator of the Seas is now the third ship to be amplified by the cruise line. Breathing new life into this fan favorite, Navigator of the Seas has received a number of new venues, amenities, and firsts at sea. This newly revitalized ship might just be the perfect weekend getaway! Find out why in our 7 things to love about the newly amplified Navigator of the Seas.
7 Things to Love About the Newly Amplified Navigator of the Seas
Redesigned Pool Area
As part of the recent amplification, this 17 year-old vessel’s pool deck that had been showing some wear and tear was enhanced. Now, this new Resort Pool makes you feel like you have already arrived in the Bahamas. With island theming, the pool deck is a welcomed update to the typical cruise ship pool.
The best part of the Resort Pool is that Royal Caribbean was able to double the poolβs surface area. This section of the ship also has more loungers and deck space, a new splash pad for kids, a Johnny Rockets Express, and the new El Loco Fresh, making the new and approved pool deck one of the best spots on Navigator of the Seas.
A New Take on the Pool Bar
Enhancing the Resort Pool also meant upgrading the typical pool bar. The new Lime and Coconut bar might easily become the new standard for cruise ship outdoor lounges. This three story bar and lounge serves up signature cocktails and is open morning, noon, and night. The first two decks serve up your favorite vacation-mode libations with a birdβs eye view of the pool. The third deck offers a rooftop sun space or moonlit lounge spot.
Action-Packed Lounges
Navigator of the Seas has added two new bars and lounges that are sure to shake up your cruise. Debuting on Mariner of the Seas, the new Bamboo Room on Navigator of the Seas offers throwback vibes and kitschy cool cocktails, many of which are included in the Royal Caribbean Deluxe Beverage Package. This Polynesian-themed lounge is the perfect spot for a midday cocktail or a late night rendezvous.
Sports fans will love the addition of Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade. This latest rendition of the newly popular bar and restaurant is located on the shipβs promenade. Home to several large HD television screens, a large selection of beer, and plenty of excitement, Playmakers is the ideal place to watch a game with friends. While there, you can dine on the a la carte menu, featuring some of the best Buffalo Wings at sea!
Navigator of the Seas is also home to several other popular bars and lounges, like the Schooner Bar, the ships’ resident piano bar and martini lounge, as well as the R Bar, English Pub, and Boleros.
The Most Thrilling Perfect Storm Yet
Perhaps one of the most anticipated additions to the newly amplified Navigator of the Seas is the new Perfect Storm duo of waterslides. The Blaster is now officially the largest waterslide at sea. This aqua coaster utilizes five water jets to propel you and a friend through the longest stretch of slide ever suspended over water.
Not to be outdone, Navigator of the Seas is also home to the only headfirst mat racer waterslide at sea, Riptide. Now, you will have an uninhibited view of the ocean, as the current swooshes you down the slide with an exhilarating curve right off the side of the ship.
Expanded Dining Options
Cruisers have come to expect broader dining options on cruise ships. Luckily, Royal Caribbean has decided to add several new casual restaurants to the ship. The Mexican-inspired El Loco fresh is the perfect spot for a quick breakfast or lunch. Johnny Rockets Express is the perfect place to chomp down on hamburgers, fries, and even spiked milkshakes.
For dinner, Navigator of the Seas has two new specialty restaurants. The new Hooked Seafood is a New England-style eatery that offers classic dishes such as clam chowder, steamed mussels, and of course a Captainβs Platter with a broiled lobster tail.
There is also Jamieβs Italian. A newer staple onboard many Royal Caribbean ships, the Tuscan-inspired fare is served in a trendy, yet casual atmosphere. Developed by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, the venue serves family style dishes with a modern twist.
Family Fun
Weekend cruises might have a reputation for being βBooze Cruisesβ, but Navigator of the Seas has plenty of options for families to “weekend like you mean it” too. The completely redesigned Adventure Ocean on deck 12 now offers plenty of space for children ages 3-12. For teenagers, the reimagined Living Room is a backyard hideaway. In this newly updated space, teens can socialize, play video games, and enjoy organized activities in an area that is off limits to adults.
Other additions for families include the complimentary laser tag game, Battle for Planet Z, which occurs several times during the cruise in Studio B. There is also The Observatorium Escape Room. See if you can break free in under 60 minutes in this mind-bending experience for cruisers 12 and older.
Familiar Favorites
Sure, Navigator of the Seas received a number of exciting updates during this βamplificationβ, but the cruise line did not change everything. There are still plenty of the familiar Royal Caribbean features that you have come to love about the brand. The FlowRider surf simulator, rock climbing wall, and mini-golf course are still present for even more outdoor fun. Navigator of the Seas also still offers the traditional main dining room setup or My Time Dining.
The ship will still host signature entertainment each evening in the main theater, and the Studio B ice rink will feature an iSkate skating show. With a new and improved Royal Promenade and other onboard activities, the ship still delivers all the familiar favorites that those βloyal to Royalβ guests expect to find on a ship.
Did We Mention Perfect Day CocoCay?
As if you need more reasons to sail on Navigator of the Seas, the ship will be regularly visiting the cruise lineβs newly enhanced private island, CocoCay, Bahamas. This resort-style destination is currently undergoing a major transformation.
With the first phase slated to be completed May 2019, CocoCay will include new additions like the Thrill Waterpark with 13 jaw-dropping slides, including the Daredevilβs Peak β the tallest waterslide in North America. The park will also feature the largest wave pool in the Caribbean. Other thrilling experiences include Up and Away, a helium balloon that floats up to 450 feet in the air, and a zip line spanning the length of the entire island!
For those looking to relax, Perfect Day CocoCay will be home to the Caribbeanβs largest freshwater pool, the Oasis Lagoon. Or, you can head over to Chill Island featuring crystal clear tropical waters, powdery white sands, and endless opportunities to kick back and relax. If you want to splurge, spend the day in the first overwater cabanas in the Bahamas.
Whether you have cruised with Royal Caribbean before or not, the newly amplified Navigator of the Seas offers something for everyone. That is why we love the newly amplified Navigator of the Seas, and canβt wait to explore the Bahamas on the ship soon! These 3 and 4 night escapes departing from Miami, Florida are the perfect option for a quick getaway.
