Norwegian Cruise Line Eliminates COVID Testing and Vaccination Requirements for All Guests

NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE TO ELIMINATE COVID-19 TESTING, MASKING AND VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS BEGINNING OCT. 4, 2022

Norwegian Cruise Line announced today that it has updated its global health and safety protocols by removing all COVID-19 testing, masking, and vaccination requirements effective October 4, 2022.

Given the significant, positive progress in the public health environment, the cruise line updated its health and safety guidelines to align with other global travel organizations.

“Health and safety are always our first priority; in fact, we were the health and safety leaders from the very start of the pandemic,” said Harry Sommer, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief executive officer. “Many travelers have been patiently waiting to take their long-awaited vacation at sea and we cannot wait to celebrate their return.”

However, NCL will continue to follow the travel guidelines as required by the destinations it visits. For all country specific travel requirements, cruisers should visit www.ncl.com/travel-requirements-by-country. Guests can also visit www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/cruise-travel-documents for more information about the required travel documentation they will need for their NCL voyage.

While Canada recently dropped its COVID requirements, country specific requirements do still remain in place for several of NCL’s cruise destinations. Many of these countries continue to require proof of vaccination and/or a negative COVID test.

For instance, cruises in Australia and Bermuda require guests to present proof of vaccination and a negative test. In Australia, unvaccinated guests can not sail presently, while Bermuda requires unvaccinated guests to purchase travel insurance. Greece even requires a booster shot to be considered fully vaccinated.

Many South American countries also still require proof of vaccination OR a negative test. Further, in Costa Rica, unvaccinated guests are unable to go ashore. In Fiji, masks are still required for all visitors. In the Caribbean, Honduras still requires proof of vaccination or a negative test.

So, if you have an upcoming cruise with NCL, be sure to stay up to date with the latest requirements for your specific sailing. It is your responsibility to make sure you meet all the requirements before boarding the ship.
