Host of activities helps Princess guests celebrate crowning of King Charles III in grand fashion

An array of coronation-themed events and entertainment are on tap aboard two Princess Cruises ships based in the United Kingdom to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III next month. Guests aboard Sky Princess and Regal Princess, both sailing out of Southampton, will enjoy a host of activities to celebrate King Charles’ ascension to the throne.

On May 6, live coverage of ‘The Coronation Service at Westminster’ and ‘The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle’ will play on the 300-square-foot jumbotron. A replica of ‘The Biggest Street Party’ will take place on top deck as well.

A ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’ will be served on board both ships, complete with British favorites such as Victoria sponge cake. Guests can enjoy Pimms and strawberries on the top deck. And, favorite British fare such as fish and chips, sausage rolls, and trifle will be available in World Fresh Marketplace.

Talks by guest speaker Grant Harrold, former butler of the King, will take place onboard Regal Princess May 3-5 and on Sky Princess May 6-13. Harrold is a former British Royal Household member and a leading etiquette expert, royal commentator, and broadcaster.

In addition, decorations in the Piazza on both ships will include banners and buntings in the Royal colors. Guests will be encouraged to wear the Royal red, white, and blue for a special dress up night.

Regal Princess will call to Holyhead in Wales on May 6. This stop is part of the ship’s itinerary around the British Isles. This means guests get the chance to experience the historical moment in a part of the UK that has strong ties with the King.

On Sky Princess, an exclusive array of Coronation-themed entertainment will take place. Some of these events include a special ‘Royal Variety Show’– featuring a tribute to Elton John – performed in the Princess Theatre, as well as ‘Royal Trivia’ in Princess Live!.
