In an email to booked guests, Explora Journeys announced that the inaugural voyage for its vessel Explora II has been delayed until mid-September. It was previously scheduled to launch in August.
The new delivery date is September 12th, with the maiden voyage scheduled to depart Civitavecchia — which is the port for Rome — on September 16th. The seven-night sailing will visit Sorrento, Trapani, Siracusa, Lipari, Valletta, and Tarragona. This delay means that five weeklong voyages have now been canceled.
“Unfortunately, after extensive consultation with our shipyard partner Fincantieri, we regret to inform you that the completion of our new ship will require more time than initially planned,” the email said.
“Please know that this decision was not taken lightly,” the message continued. “Our commitment to the highest standards of quality and luxury is unwavering, and we want to ensure that your experience aboard Explora II is nothing short of extraordinary. We believe this additional time will allow us to meet and exceed the luxurious ocean experience you are expecting.”
Booked passengers are being contacted to arrange for an alternative cruise on Explora II or her sister ship Explora I, which is also sailing in the Mediterranean.
