American Cruise Lines has announced that its third new Coastal Cat ship, American Liberty, has passed sea trials with flying colors. The cruise line has now accepted delivery of the 100-guest vessel from Chesapeake Shipbuilding early.
American Liberty is the newest ship in American Cruise Lines’ Project Blue series of 12 new small ships for river and coastal cruising in the United States. Several more ships in the series are already under construction, including the fourth Coastal Cat, American Legend, which is set to begin cruising in November 2024. Four additional Patriot Class ships are also in the pipeline.
American Liberty is scheduled to sail her inaugural cruise next month, departing August 15th and cruising roundtrip from Providence, Rhode Island. The voyage will be the line’s popular New England Islands itinerary. The cruise will visit New Bedford, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island, Newport, and Bristol.
In addition to the New England itinerary, American Liberty will operate a schedule of U.S. itineraries along the east coast throughout the rest of the year โย sailings that blend the luxury of river cruising with the access and adventure of expedition cruising, all while visiting only U.S. ports of call.
American Liberty follows closely behind the launches of sister ships American Eagle and American Glory last year. It is now the newest cruise boat in the country and a testament to American Cruise Lines’ ongoing market strength, fleet expansion, and ability to sail a large array of U.S. itineraries along both rivers and coasts. The line operates the only 100 percent U.S. flagged fleet of riverboats and small cruise ships in the world.
American Liberty has four decks and features the same catamaran bow as previous sister ships. She features elegant interior design and private balcony cabins, including single and double occupancy staterooms as well as suites. The vessel also has a top deck for viewing the passing scenery, lounges both indoors and out, a main restaurant, a cafรฉ, and a fitness center.
