Carnival Cruise Line is bringing back a piece of the past by reintroducing a midnight buffet on its ships, but in a more snacky form.
On his Facebook page, Carnival’s brand ambassador John Heald said that many fans of the line have “written and spoken to me about food options and the wait time for pizza when you’re looking for a late-night snack.”
In response, Carnival will be expanding its late-night bites to include more than just pizza.
“Now around midnight,” his post continued, “our fabulous team on Lido will take over from our wonderful pizza chefs as our service moves from the counter to the buffet line.”
The menu, called “Late Night Snack,” is small but offers a variety of options. Some menu items will stay the same from night to night, while others will change to offer a variety throughout the cruise. Pizza will still be available every night, with pepperoni, cheese, and loaded vegetable hot and ready. Other staple items that will be offered every night include hot dogs, French fries, coleslaw, potato salad, chips and salsa, and chocolate chip and sugar cookies.
Items that will rotate through the menu include fried chicken tenders, Manhattan clam chowder, chicken noodle soup, chicken egg drop soup, Scotch broth, buffalo cauliflower, grilled vegetables, and buffalo popcorn chicken. Rotating sandwiches will include steak and cheese, turkey and Swiss, grilled cheese, smoked pork shoulder, Italian meatball, ham and cheese roll, and a grinder. Each night will also feature a cake, with rotating options including black forest, raspberry chocolate, chocolate fudge, and mango cream.
There will be two areas in the lido buffet to grab these late-night eats, so there should be little to no waiting for a quick midnight snack.
