Setting sail for the first time in Europe, Celebrity Cruises’ ship Celebrity Ascent will arrive into Barcelona tomorrow, April 27th. The vessel will kick off its first European deployment with a nine-night Italian Riviera and France itinerary. The sailing will visit destinations across the Mediterranean, including an overnight stay in La Spezia.
“We’re bringing our latest and greatest Edge Series ship to Europe, enabling guests to discover this diverse region with its stunning coastlines, while enjoying Celebrity Ascent’s premium facilities, elevated food and drink experiences, and wonderful entertainment.” says Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises.
Like sister ship Celebrity Beyond, Ascent features the best of the Edge class with 32 restaurants, bars, and lounges to explore. It also features the iconic orange Magic Carpet cantilevered venue and The Retreat ship-within-a-ship complex which includes its own restaurant Luminae.
World-renowned chef Daniel Boulud returns as Celebrity’s Global Culinary Ambassador creating exclusive menus for guests and launching his second restaurant at sea, Le Voyage, which has a new look and feel on Celebrity Ascent. (The first Le Voyage can be found on Celebrity Beyond.)
Enhanced dining experiences on Ascent including a new tasting menu at Eden and Blu, the exclusive restaurant for AquaClass guests that features a new outdoor dining space. Le Petit Chef, which is a dinner experience featuring projection mapping onto the table and dinnerware also returns to Ascent with an enhanced animation experience and dinner menu.
Entertainment on Ascent includes new live productions and augmented gaming experiences. Three new production shows in the main theater feature state-of-the-art technology, and there are performances by world-class singers, dancers, and specialty artists.
Once the sun sets on the main pool deck, guests are invited to the Ascent After Dark: Shine the Night deck parties complete with a DJ and live performances to create an open-air dance floor. Guests should pack their shiniest metallic outfits for a fun, high-energy experience.
Celebrity Ascent will offer a variety of seven to 12-night cruises in the Mediterranean, Aegean, and the Atlantic coast. Departure ports will include Barcelona, Civitavecchia (the port for Rome), and Piraeus (the port for Athens).
