Norwegian Cruise Line’s Newest Ship Will Be Norwegian Prima
Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed the name and itineraries of its newest ship, Norwegian Prima. However, a full ship reveal is coming this Wednesday, May 12th. So, stay tuned.
Little details are known about this Prima-Class ship at this time. We know that the ship will weigh in at about 140K gross tons, which is smaller than the Breakaway Plus-Class ships. The ship will also be the first LNG powered vessel for the brand.
You can also now get a glimpse at the variety of itineraries that will go on sale in just two days.
During a call with travel outlets this morning, NCL’s President, Harry Sommers, stated “We think this itinerary, where we spend a little bit of time in different areas, will really allow us to expose the ship to many different markets.” “Remember, we have six of them coming, so we want as many guests to see them as possible.”
Norwegian Prima will debut in Northern Europe with 10-night inaugural cruises from Amsterdam, Netherlands and Copenhagen, Denmark. Then, she will complete a 12-night Transatlantic from Southampton, England to New York.
Once in North America, Norwegian Prima will sail from a variety of homeports including New York, Galveston, Miami, and Port Canaveral. Norwegian Prima will settle in to her winter homeport of Port Canaveral for December 2022 to March 2023. Here, she will offer 5-, 7- and 9-day itineraries to the Western Caribbean. Ports of call will include Cozumel, Mexico; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; and the cruise line’s private island of Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas.
Beginning in March 2023, Norwegian Prima will return to New York to offer 5- or 7-day cruises to Bermuda through May 2023. Then, the ship will head back to Northern Europe, sailing from Reykjavik, Iceland or Southampton, England. These itineraries will be offered through September 2023.
This variety of itineraries hints at potential future homeports for Norwegian Cruise Line, like Galveston, Texas.
