  • Passengers earn one Latitudes point per night of a cruise when they sail in a standard stateroom
  • Staying in a suite or The Haven, or booking through a Latitudes Rewards Insider Offer earns guests two points per night instead of one

  • The highest tier in the NCL Latitudes program is Ambassador, which guests achieve after earning 700 points

How to sign up for the NCL Latitudes program

Becoming a member of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Latitudes Rewards Program is easy. How to Earn Points in Norwegian’s Latitudes Rewards Program

You will accrue one Latitude point for each night you spend on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship. For instance, a seven-day cruise in a standard stateroom will earn you seven points. Cruisers will receive these points after completing their cruise. Therefore, if a current sailing bumps you into the next level, you will not recognize the new benefits until your next sailing.

Guests sailing with Friends & Family rates and/or Casino cruises do earn points. However, it’s important to note that cruisetour nights do not accrue points.

Chartered cruises, inaugural events, and cruises taken via cruise certificates or travel agent rates do not qualify for rewards points. However, if you are already a Latitudes member, you will still receive your benefits on these sailings.

How can I climb the tiers faster in the NCL Latitudes loyalty program?

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Latitudes Rewards program is pretty simple, only rewarding points based on the number of nights you spend aboard the ships. However, you can earn two points per night instead of one in two different ways.

For starters, guests who book suites or The Haven will earn two points per night. Of note, Club Balcony Suites are not included in this offer. This point structure applies to allย cruise destinations.

Further, NCL will occasionally have Latitudes Rewards Insider Offers which also qualify for double points when booking.

Of note, you earn Latitudes points based on the cabin category for which you paid during the initial reservation. It does not apply to upgrades. If you receive a free or discounted upgrade to a suite or The Haven you will not receive suite points.

Where can I find my NCL Latitudes points balance?

Using the Benefits of NCL Latitudes

Benefits from Norwegian’s Latitudes program are based on your tier status in this loyalty program. The more you cruise with NCL, the more perks you receive. The onboard discounts are available on all sailings. However, the other perks are only available on sailings that are five nights or longer.

If you are cruising in the same stateroom with a Latitudes member with a different tier status, both guests will receive the benefit of the higher tier for rewards delivered on a stateroom level. Though, each member will receive the benefit that corresponds to their respective tier for rewards delivered on an individual level.

Norwegian’s Latitudes Rewards Program Benefits Fine Print

To receive onboard discounts, guests only need to present their keycards at the appropriate location. These locations include the gift shop, shore excursions desk, spa, photo gallery, and art auction.

Shore Excursions:

Cruisers can use shore excursion discounts online pre-cruise in their My NCL account or onboard the ship.

If booking shore excursions onboard the ship, you will need to visit the shore excursions desk. If a guest pre-pays for a shore excursion before embarking on the cruise, the applicable discount will be applied at the time of booking/payment.

Luckily, the shore excursion discount is combinable with the Free at Sea program.

Internet Discounts:

Internet package discounts can be used for the Voyage and Streaming Voyage wifi passes, excluding Free at Sea wifi package upgrades and time-based wifi packages. The discount may be applied online if an internet package is purchased pre-cruise or once onboard the ship.

Pre-Bookings:

Platinum, Sapphire, and Diamond members can pre-book dining beginning at 125 days prior to embarkation day. Ambassadors are eligible for pre-booking at 130 days prior to embarkation.

Specialty Dinners:

The free specialty dinner benefit is per stateroom, available on voyages five days or longer. It entitles the first two guests in the stateroom up to three appetizers, three desserts, and one entrรฉe per person, per meal. Up-charges apply to certain premium menu items. The free bottle of wine is offered in all venues that have a complimentary wine list, not including Palomar.

Dinner vouchers cannot be used at the same venue twice.

Diamond Cabin Upgrade:

Diamond members will be offered a one-time complimentary cabin upgrade. The cabin upgrade is valid for one category increase from the category booked. Guests may request their cabin category upgrade through their My NCL account, after which a representative will reach out regarding the request.

Ambassador Free Cruise:

For the Ambassador-level free cruise, guests receive a complimentary seven-day cruise in a balcony stateroom on any ship. If they choose to embark on a cruise longer than seven days, they can redeem up to seven days of the sailing for free, and are responsible for paying the cruise fare for any days beyond seven. If two Ambassador members are eligible for their free cruise on the same sailing, they can both redeem their benefit and qualify for sailings of up to 14 days.

Surprisingly, there are no destination restrictions. In addition, the cruise is for two people, so 3rd and 4th guests need to pay prevailing rates (if applicable). Guests may pay to upgrade from a balcony to a suite or The Haven. Guests can also pay to add Free at Sea to their free sailing if they wish.

Do NCL Latitudes rewards points expire?

No, the points you’ve earned through the NCL Latitudes program never expire. Members of the Latitudes program keep all of their points at the end of each year and accrue them indefinitely. This means that โ€” at least at the present time โ€” those who hit the Ambassador tier get to keep that status forever.

Does NCL status match with other Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings brands?

Yes, as of fall 2025 Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings brands do status matching with each other.

If you hold status with Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, or Regent Seven Seas Cruises, you will be granted the closest corresponding tier on a sister cruise brand on a per-cruise basis. According to NCL’s website, “by submitting a request to have your loyalty status temporarily honored for a specific cruise, youโ€™ll enjoy select discounts and benefits associated with that brandโ€™s loyalty program closest to the corresponding tier.” There are some exceptions, as some of the highest tiers do not directly correspond to the highest tiers on the other lines.

The per-cruise status granted on a sister line that you do not originally hold status with is not permanently honored. After the cruise ends, your honored tier reverts to whatever tier you’ve earned with that specific brand.

Guests must apply to the NCLH Loyalty Status Honoring Program for status matching to be honored. Points are not transferable between NCLH brand loyalty programs.

Is staying loyal to Norwegian Cruise Line worth it?

Many guests across all different cruise lines ask themselves this question at some point. ‘Is it worth staying loyal to the cruise line I’ve been loyal to thus far?’ The answer to this question is a personal one, and will vary from person to person. If you’ve been happy with and remain happy with NCL, and if you don’t feel a strong pull towards sailing with another line, the perks do add up the higher you move up in the Latitudes loyalty program. If you’ve seen ships from other lines that interest you, don’t hold yourself back from trying them just because you’re an NCL loyalist up to this point.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you mostly take shorter sailings on NCL, you won’t be able to fully take advantage of your status as some perks don’t kick in unless you’re on a 5+ night sailing. In that case, you might not have as big of a reason to stay loyal and may be inclined to try other lines.

But strictly from a practical standpoint, Norwegian Cruise Line has a solid program for its loyal passengers. Especially with the addition of status matching with its sister brands, there are lots of reasons to move up the tiers in the Latitudes program. Free laundry, significant discounts on things like wifi and shore excursions, free specialty dining, and the one-time free cruise are valuable benefits. If you’re a loyal NCL cruiser and remain happy with the line’s current ships, amenities, pricing, and service, we don’t see any reason to stray away from Norwegian Cruise Line and its sister brands.
