Odyssey of the Seas Delayed Until 2021

Odyssey of the Seas Delayed

Royal Caribbean’s newest Quantum Ultra Class ship, Odyssey of the Seas was set to debut this Fall sailing from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. With the impacts from COVID-19, along with a recently reported fire at the shipyard, this left many cruisers questioning whether the inaugural season would be delayed. Well, it became official this morning that Odyssey of the Seas is Delayed Until 2021!

Royal Caribbean has added Odyssey of the Seas to its growing list of cancelled cruises for 2020. “Given the closure of shipyards along with the disruption to the supply chain caused by this pandemic, we’ll need additional time to complete the Odyssey of the Seas’ scheduled construction.” Now, all cruises from November 5th, 2020 through April 17th, 2021 will be cancelled. That means our last official cruise for 2020 is now cancelled, as we were booked on the November 5th inaugural sailing.

Like previous cancellations, passengers impacted by these cancellations will automatically receive 125% future cruise credit that can be applied to a cruise sailing before April 30, 2022 to be re-booked by December 31st, 2021.

Impacted guests could also choose to Lift and Shift their reservation to a 2021 date protecting the original price and/or promotion. The new cruise must be the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category as the original sailing within 4 weeks (before or after) of the original sail date. This option must be applied by July 17th.

Or, guests can complete the online refund request form before December 31st to receive 100% refund to original form of payment within 45 days of request.

Odyssey of the Seas

Odyssey of the Seas Features

When Odyssey of the Seas sets sail next year, it will be the 27th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Odyssey of the Seas will feature two familiar favorites from the Quantum Class ships, the RipCord by iFLY and the North Star high flying feats. Thrill seekers will also be glad to hear that the Sky Pad which debuted on Mariner of the Seas will also be found on Odyssey of the Seas (with new age restrictions).

Odyssey of the Seas will also be home to the SeaPlex, the largest and most revolutionary indoor space at sea. Similar to other Quantum Class ships, this SeaPlex will have a roller skating rink and bumper cars (though no trapeze school). The space will also double as the glow-in-the-dark laser tag arena.

Cruisers who love the pool deck on the newly amplified ships in the fleet can rejoice as Odyssey of the Seas will feature a similar multi-level resort style pool deck, featuring two pools, plenty of comfy lounge furniture, and the popular Lime and Coconut Bar.

New Details on Odyssey of the Seas

The ship will also be home to the state of the art Two70 entertainment venue and the popular Music Hall, your concert venue at sea. While there has been no confirmed main theater shows yet, we are sure that Royal Caribbean has something great up their sleeves.

One of the biggest additions coming to Odyssey of the Seas is a brand-new restaurant, Teppanyaki. Keeping pace with other contemporary cruise lines, Royal Caribbean will now have a dedicated restaurant to serve up Far East flavors in a traditional Japanese cooking style. The re-imagined Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen, which we loved on the amplified Freedom of the Seas, will also be coming to Odyssey of the Seas.

So, we will just have to wait a bit longer now to experience all Odyssey of the Seas will offer!
