Explora Journeys has announced a new art collection and art experiences on its ship Explora I. This includes a collection of rare, limited-edition screenprints and lithographs by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein as well as an original acrylic and silkscreen on canvas by Andy Warhol. The new exhibition complements the permanent collection of fine art and sculptures already found on board.
Curated Artistry
Every piece of the permanent art collection on Explora I has been chosen by the owner’s family to embody the serene state of the line’s cruise experience. The art selection features a blend of renowned and emerging artists, alongside master artisans. Art enhances every guest space from suites and restaurants to passing areas, lounges, and the lobby.
Passengers will find commissioned limited edition prints in the suites and hallways, while abstract 3D paper wall reliefs and specially-commissioned paintings adorn the restaurants.
Sculptural masterpieces by Yves Dana in the lobby serve as a focal point, seamlessly integrating with the ship’s design. For the public areas on deck five, Explora Journeys has acquired Yinka Shonibare’s British Library collections. British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare CBE exhibits his work across the globe and currently has pieces in the Tate, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, MOMA in New York City, the Perez Art Museum in Miami, the National Museum of African Art at the Smithsonian in Washington DC, and Moderna Museet in Stockholm, among others.
Iconic Pop Art
Explora I‘s Galleria d’Arte now features a privately-owned collection of limited-edition prints from two legendary pop art masters: Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Guests will have the unique opportunity to view some of the most iconic and influential works by these world-renowned artists. Further, expert art luminaries and hosts will be able to guide passengers through these artworks.
The installation debuted on June 19th in Barcelona and will remain on board until spring 2025.
