Disney Cruise Line’s upcoming ship Disney Treasure is now en route to her new home in the United States.
This week, the vessel embarked on her transatlantic voyage from Eemshaven, Netherlands to Port Canaveral, Florida. Treasure will traverse 4,500 miles over the course of two weeks. Her first port call will be the city of Funchal, Portugal, where she will make a brief stop before heading back out to sea. During the crossing, work on the ship will continue as final preparations are made for the maiden voyage on December 21st.
Last week, Disney Treasure was officially delivered from the shipbuilder, Meyer Werft, to Disney Cruise Line. Team members, shipyard workers, and the Meyer Werft team were on hand to join in the celebration alongside Disney Cruise Line executives.
Disney Treasure is the second in Disney’s Wish-class vessels, following Disney Wish which debuted in 2022. Many aspects of the ship will be similar to Wish, including the tonnage and layout, but many venues have brand-new themes for the adventure-themed Disney Treasure.
For example, both ships have three main dining rooms which guests rotate through during the cruise. Disney Wish‘s are the elegant venue 1923, the super hero-themed Worlds of Marvel, and the Frozen-themed Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. Disney Treasure will feature 1923 and Worlds of Marvel, but the third restaurant will be themed to the movie Coco with Plaza de Coco.
Other new venues coming to Disney Treasure include the Scat Cat Lounge based on The Aristocats, The Jungle Cruise-themed Skipper Society lounge, the underwater and submarine-themed Periscope Pub, and The Haunted Mansion Parlor. Like Disney Wish, Treasure will also feature the aqua coaster AquaMouse. It will have a brand-new storyline where Mickey and Minnie search for treasure in an ancient temple.
