Carnival Cruise Line’s Sydney, Australia-based ship Carnival Splendor made an exciting rescue this week.
The vessel’s team rescued four people and three dogs who were stranded aboard a disabled catamaran in the South Pacific on Thursday morning. Splendor was sailing south of New Caledonia when the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Noumea informed them of the catamaran’s distress call.
The ship immediately headed towards the location and was able to reach the catamaran five hours later to complete the rescue. The two couples and their three dogs were safely welcomed onto Carnival Splendor and are receiving food, water, and medical assistance.

Splendor left Sydney on Monday on an eight-day roundtrip cruise to Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Today, the 3,000+ guests on the vessel are visiting Mystery Island and will visit Noumea on Saturday, as scheduled. The vessel is set to return to Sydney on Tuesday.
