The Atlantic Canada Cruise Association has announced that it has achieved a record-breaking season for cruise passengers. The region welcomed over 675 cruise ship calls and more than one million passenger visits from April to November of this year.
The 2024 season marked a major milestone for Atlantic Canada, highlighting its growing popularity with a notable rise in spring and summer — about 30 percent over 2023. Over 25 cruise lines visited the region, including many first-time calls. These achievements reflect the collaborative efforts of the Canada New England Alliance, underscoring Atlantic Canada’s unique appeal to cruise tourists from around the world.
“This year’s achievements underscore the dedication and teamwork of our ports, industry partners, regional stakeholders, and communities,” said Sarah Rumley, ACCA Executive Director. “Favourable weather, renowned hospitality, and one-of-a-kind experiences have been key to this success. As we celebrate these accomplishments, we remain committed to fostering a viable and responsible future for the cruise industry in Atlantic Canada.”
The Atlantic Canada Cruise Association’s five partner ports: Charlottetown, Corner Brook, Halifax, Saint John, and Sydney, played a major role in the success, standing out as premier destinations that offer exceptional hospitality.
Complementing those ports are 20 smaller and more niche ports including the French territory of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, enriched the region’s offerings by inviting visitors to experience the charm and beauty of region.
