Disney Cruise Line’s upcoming mega ship Disney Adventure has reached a major construction milestone. The vessel was floated out at Meyer Werft shipyard in Wismar, Germany this past weekend, joined by Captain Mickey, Captain Minnie, and a crowd of cheering spectators.

The moment was celebrated with fireworks as a tugboat carefully guided the ship’s bow out of the building. Adventure is now docked where she will stay for the next few months as construction continues.

The construction team has an exciting few weeks ahead as they begin making some major updates to the vessel’s exterior. One of the most exciting milestones is the installation of the iconic Disney Cruise Line funnels on the upper decks — four in total! Soon, the iconic yellow lifeboats will also be added, as well as top-deck attractions like Marvel Landing’s Groot Galaxy Spin and Disney Cruise Line’s first-ever coaster Ironcycle Test Run.

Once a ship is floated out, that’s when interior build-out also ramps up as every part of the ship comes closer to completion.

Disney Adventure is Disney Cruise Line’s largest cruise ship ever, coming in at 208,000 gross tons. It will be able to hold around 6,000 guests. The vessel’s inaugural voyage is set for December 15th. It will operate mostly three and four-night cruises to nowhere from Singapore.
