Disney Cruise Line has revealed some more details on its upcoming ship Disney Destiny, which is scheduled to debut this November.
Villainous Entertainment
The Grand Hall (atrium) on the heroes and villains-themed vessel will be themed to Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther.” For most of the day, the Grand Hall will have a bright and optimistic energy — but at any moment it may morph into a mythical realm of mystery. With 360-degree lighting effects that fill the room with life and color, the ever-changing space will react to the presence of certain characters, taking on the aura of some of the most legendary villains, rogues, and mischief makers of Disney and Marvel lore.
One such transformation will take place with the arrival of Loki, who’s intent on clearing his name with the mortals of Midgard. Guests will never know when Loki may show up with a grand proclamation of his glorious purpose or a dubious retelling of a well-known story. He may even recruit guests for a surprise competition to prove their adoration.
Disney Destiny will offer new ways for guests to interact with some of their favorite villains. For example, Cruella de Vil will grace passengers with her presence during two brand-new entertainment experiences. The first will be an opportunity for fashion-forward guests to put their style to the test on Cruella’s runway, where the reigning rogue will provide live commentary. And when she hears the “Cruella de Vil” song playing on board, she may recruit guests for a bit of “treble”-making as they create a more flattering musical tribute for her.
Dr. Facilier may also be lurking around the Grand Hall with a parlor trick or sleight of hand, while Maleficent will probably be holding court at the Saga entertainment lounge.
Hercules Stage Show
Last summer, Disney Cruise Line announced that Destiny would feature a Broadway-style stage adaptation of “Hercules.” Now, we have a first look at the production.
“Disney Hercules” will stay true to the story and spirit of the film with a fresh retelling centered around the soundtrack. Featuring a celebration of iconic songs like “Go the Distance, “Zero to Hero,” and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love,” the show will present live renditions with new musical arrangements inspired by the soulfulness of gospel music with the energy of a pop concert.

In addition to all of the songs from the film, “Disney Hercules” will include the theatrical debut of “Shooting Star,” a heartfelt ballad originally written for the movie by Alan Menken and David Zippel.
Award-winning puppet designer Michael Curry is bringing to life some of the tale’s characters through jaw-dropping puppetry, building on the designs that were debuted in “Disney The Tale of Moana” on Disney Treasure.
“Disney Hercules” will be one of three stage shows aboard Disney Destiny along with “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” and “Disney Seas the Adventure.”
The Sanctum
Disney Destiny will feature The Sanctum, Disney Cruise Line’s first lounge inspired by the sorcerers and mystical artifacts of Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange.”

Taking cues from Doctor Strange’s New York Sanctum, the venue will feature mythical items designed to aid sorcerers in protecting the world. Guests will discover unique design details inspired by the shapes and symbols of the Rune Shields, along with familiar icons like the Cloak of Levitation and spell books from the library of Kamar-Taj.
The centrally-located entertainment parlor will host a variety of activities throughout the voyage, while also offering a variety of cocktails, mocktails, spirits, and coffees. Menu items will include:
- Circle of the Cosmos – Brunswick Aces Diamonds Gin, verjus blanc, and fresh lemon juice garnished with a lemon peel spiral
- Vapors of Valtorr – Grey Goose Altius Vodka, ginger beer, fresh lime juice, and butterfly pea flower syrup topped with berry-flavored bubbles
- Stuffed waffles with custard cream filling
- Stuffed waffles with mixed berry compote filling

Edna Á La Mode Sweets
Edna Mode’s lab, where the famed fashion designer from Pixar’s “The Incredibles” whips up outfits for the world’s most famous Supers, will be transformed into this unique confectionary aboard Disney Destiny. Inspired by the “Auntie Edna” short film, the lab’s modern sewing equipment will be repurposed as sweet-making mechanisms to entertain Jack-Jack, the hilariously unpredictable super baby.
Taking on the signature look of the movies, the futuristic design blends techy features with sweet surprises. A collection of Edna’s sketches and high-fashion artwork will decorate the walls, with the front window showcasing costume models of the latest suits for Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. The venue will include a sculpture of Jack-Jack and Edna working on her cookie recipe, and passengers may even spot the infamous Rock the raccoon popping out of a garbage can nearby, trying to get his paws on a plate of cookies.

The menu will include handmade gelato, ice cream, candy, and specialty treats such as cupcakes, gourmet popsicles, homemade chocolate bark, and — of course — Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums. Here’s some of what guests can expect there:
- Violet’s Cupcake – Purple Velvet Sponge Cake with white chocolate mousse, purple mirror glaze, sprinkles, and chocolate décor
- Mr. Incredible’s Cupcake – Double Chocolate Fudge Cake with chocolate truffle mousse, dark chocolate velvet finish, gold confetti, and chocolate décor
- Edna À La Mode Cupcake – Vanilla Marble Sponge Cake with white chocolate mousse, red mirror glaze, sprinkles, and chocolate décor
- Elastigirl’s Cupcake – Orange-Almond Cake with raspberry mousse, orange chocolate velvet finish, sprinkles, and chocolate décor
