Holland America Line has announced a tweak to one of its longer Legendary Voyages this fall. The “Tales of the South Pacific” sailing will now include a call to Bora Bora, French Polynesia. Zaandam will become one of an exclusive group of ships to call at the island, providing an exciting addition to the idyllic cruise vacation.

Departing September 25th from Vancouver, British Columbia or September 30th from San Diego, California, the 51 or 56-day sailing is an in-depth exploration of the South Pacific. In addition to Bora Bora, guests will visit ports throughout Hawaii and the South Pacific including five ports in Hawaii, four ports in Fiji, seven additional calls in French Polynesia, and calls at Kiribati, American Samoa, Samoa, Tonga, and the Cook Islands.

Zaandam will arrive in Bora Bora at 8 am and depart just before midnight November 6, 2024, giving guests nearly 16 hours to take in all the island has to offer.

“Bora Bora earned the nickname ‘Pearl of the Pacific’ for good reason as it is consistently rated among the most popular tourist destinations in the world,” said Paul Grigsby, vice president, deployment and itinerary planning for Holland America Line. “We’re thrilled to be able to add the port to this year’s Tales of the South Pacific cruise, giving our guests an even more select and in-depth exploration of the region.”

Beyond the addition of Bora Bora, guests aboard Zaandam will now experience an overnight call in Suva, the capital of Fiji. Visitors will be able to experience excursions like a longboat tour through Fiji’s tropical rainforest, visit the famous Nausori farmers market, or head to the Fiji Museum and Thurston Gardens to get a taste of the city’s vibrant culture.

Additional overnights include Honolulu, Hawaii, and Papeete.

Legendary Voyages are longer cruises that range from 25 to 59 days, offering a “mini world cruise” of sorts that focuses on a singular region. Shipboard programming is specially curated to share insights into the history and culture of the destinations visited. Passengers enjoy the “best of” Grand Voyages programming including themed parties, memorable sailaways, and classic cruise activities.
