Sarah Bretz, ContributorRoyal Caribbean International has announced that musical icon Diana Ross will be godmother of its newest mega ship, Star of the Seas.
This August, Ross will join a longstanding maritime tradition when she takes the stage to bestow safekeeping onto the ship, its crew, and guests who sail on board. Star of the Seas’ naming ceremony will take place in the AquaTheater, located in the vessel’s AquaDome neighborhood surrounded by ocean views.
“I am truly honored to join the Royal Caribbean family,” said Diana Ross. “Having spent years of creating beautiful music and memories and bringing people together from all over the world, this feels like a perfect continuation of my journey as godmother of Star of the Seas.”

Star of the Seas will sail from Port Canaveral, Florida, operating seven-night voyages to the eastern and western Caribbean.
