It’s never fun to find out that you have a cancelled cruise. Well, today we got that notice of cancellation from Disney Cruise Line. Unfortunately, the Disney Wish inaugural sailings have been delayed.
Disney Wish Inaugural Sailings Delayed
Booked guests received notification today regarding the delay of the Disney Wish inaugural sailings, as the Meyer Werft shipyard will not have the ship ready in time for its originally scheduled debut.
Disney Cruise Line states, “While we are all eagerly awaiting the ship’s debut, today we must share that our anticipation will unfortunately have to extend a bit longer than initially planned. The shipyard has notified us that despite their very best efforts, they will need more time to finish our ship due in part to the pandemic and particularly the arrival of the Omicron variant in Germany at a critical point in the process.”
As a result, the Disney Wish maiden voyage is now July 14, 2022. This indicates a delay of six weeks and impacts the first 12 sailings on the new cruise ship.
For guests booked on the original June 9th Maiden Voyage and the June 14th Disney Vacation Club (DVC) cruises, Disney Cruise Line will automatically move them to the new sail dates of July 14th and July 19th respectively.

Disney Cruise Line is extending to all other guests a 50% discount on a future cruise departing by December 31, 2023. With this offer, Disney Cruise Line will hold any funds currently applied to the reservation as future cruise credit. Guests will receive this credit automatically. They can then use it as a payment option when booking a new reservation.
When booking online, the 50 percent cruise discount will not be visible at the time of booking. You will receive an updated confirmation statement reflecting this discount at a later date.
Alternatively, impacted guests may contact the cruise to request a full refund. If you request a refund, you forfeit your 50% Future Cruise Discount.
Disney Wish itineraries are temporarily unavailable. Guests will be able to book new sailings on the ship beginning February 8th.
