Another World Record for Royal Caribbean International

As if Royal Caribbean International needed to rack up any more world records. Last week, our friends over at the Royal Caribbean Blog announced that the North Star was officially entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. Receiving the title of the “Highest Viewing Deck on a Cruise Ship”, North Star was recognized for bringing cruise passengers some 300 feet above sea level to enjoy an exhilarating view of the ship and surrounding waters (or ports of call). Find out what it is like to take a ride on the North Star with our review from our last Anthem of the Seas cruise. You can soar on North Star on three RCI ships- Anthem of the Seas, Quantum of the Seas, and Ovation of the Seas.

Partnership with Holland America and BBC Earth Expands

Holland America continues to enhance their onboard programming by forming partnerships with popular British entertainment. This week, the cruise line indicated they would be rolling out several new features fleet-wide based on their partnership with the award winning BBC Earth. While currently available on a handful of ships, guests onboard almost all HAL ships will now be able to go head to head in a “family friendly” game show called What on Earth. All cruisers will also be able to enjoy the captivating performance of Frozen Planet Live. Based on the hit television show, this nighttime concert couples live orchestra performances with images from the show for a mesmerizing and moving entertainment experience.

Construction Begins on MSC Seaside’s Miami Terminal

As the Port of Miami welcomed its newest ship, work has also begun on the construction of another terminal at the world’s largest cruise port. This time around, ground was broken to add additional capacity to the terminal that will be home to MSC Cruises’ biggest and most innovative ship, the MSC Seaside. This new facility will enable more passengers to quickly and efficiently board and disembark this new ship which will be settling into the Port of Miami starting in the fall of 2017. Stay tuned for more details on this ship as we already have plans to sail on her in early 2018.

MSC Bellissima Steel Cutting Ceremony

While MSC Cruises awaits delivery of their newest ship, MSC Meraviglia in Spring 2017, the cruise line is wasting no time adding ships to this new class. A few days ago, the steel was cut at STX France for a sister ship. The MSC Bellissima will set sail in 2019, but where the ship will sail or call home has not yet been revealed. It is also unclear if this ship will be an exact replica of the first in the class. This ship will be one of several new MSC Cruises’ ships that will be rolling out of dry dock as the cruise line plans to release an amazing 10 new ships, with roughly one new ship a year hitting the waves.
