Norwegian Bliss Reveal

The week began with a rather big announcement from Norwegian Cruise Line. The company made headlines by releasing more details about its newest ship, Norwegian Bliss. The ship will boast a two-story, 1,000 foot long race track, which will be the largest at sea. Also onboard will be the first ever open-air laser tag game. The ship will be home to several new restaurants, including the Q Texas Smokehouse and the line’s first Starbucks at sea. American Duchess Sets Sail

Another river cruise ship will be cruising the Mississippi. The luxurious American Duchess was launched this week and began sailing a 23 day cruise up the Mississippi River. This more modern ship has a distinctly different decor and ambiance than the line’s other two ships, the American Queen paddle wheeler and the American Empress. Cruise officials are expecting the 166 passenger American Duchess to appeal to younger cruisers. The 100 foot wide, three deck ship was reconstructed from the frame of an old riverboat casino. The cruise line has a fourth ship that will be undergoing a similar reconstruction in the near future.

More Cuba Calls For Carnival Paradise

Just a few days ago, Carnival Cruise Line released additional 2018 Cuba sailings. These 5-8 day sailings will be on the Carnival Paradise. All sailings include an overnight in Havana, Cuba to allow passengers more time to explore the historic city. Cruise line representatives indicated strong customer demand for more trips to this largest island in the Caribbean. Along with stops in Havana, these additional sailings will include stops in other ports such as Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico.

Royal Caribbean International Confirms Next Ship Details

Royal Caribbean also had some new ship news this week. The cruise line confirmed the name of its next ship, Spectrum of the Seas. This newest ship will be part of the Quantum Ultra class. Unfortunately, cruisers here in the states will not likely get to experience Spectrum of the Seas as the ship is being custom built for the Asian market and will most likely home-port somewhere in China.  At the ship’s steel cutting ceremony, Royal Caribbean indicated the ship will launch in 2019 and will include “cutting-edge and unprecedented experiences and amenities”. Stay tuned to as we provide more updates on this new vessel when they become available.
