American Cruise Lines’ newest ship American Legend set sail on her inaugural cruise on Monday from Florida.

The vessel is sailing the line’s eight-day Florida Gulf Coast & Keys itinerary roundtrip from St. Petersburg. The cruise visits Marco Island, Key West, and Punta Gorda, with an optional pre-cruise hotel stay in Tampa. The cruise explores Florida’s Gulf Coast, and even includes a full day exploration of Dry Tortugas National Park.

This week’s first cruise also included American Legend‘s official christening ceremony, which took place today, November 27th, in Key West. The ceremony was held on board with the ship’s godmother, Key West Mayor DeeDee Henriquez, cruise guests, and American Cruise Lines executives. Tomorrow, Thanksgiving will be celebrated on board with a traditional holiday meal complete with all the fixings.

American Legend is a sister ship to American Liberty, which also began sailing this year. It was built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland, and can accommodate 100 guests. Legend is American Cruise Lines’ 19th new small ship, 4th Coastal Cat, and 2nd new ship this year.
