Yes, we are at it again. The summer could not go by without heading off for a final “summer vacation”. Tomorrow, we are setting sail on a short cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas. This three day cruise offers a similar itinerary to our Enchantment of the Seas cruise that we took back in 2015. Still, we get excited for any cruise. I mean, who doesn’t? As we countdown to sail away, here is why we are excited to sail on Majesty of the Seas.

Why We Are Excited to Sail on Majesty of the Seas

A Relaxing Holiday Weekend

As part of this vacation, we somehow found a way to squeeze in a few days at Disney World. We haven’t visited the parks in 7 years, and a lot has changed! There is now more planning required than ever before with the FastPass+ system and dining reservations. With our day jobs stressing us out and our 6 days in WDW, we are sure to be even more exhausted. So, getting on Majesty of the Seas for a few days to enjoy the sunshine, food, and drinks will be the perfect conclusion to our trip and the unofficial end to our summer.

Getting Back to CocoCay, Bahamas

This will be our third visit to CocoCay, Bahamas. So, we decided to splurge on this trip with a Beach Bungalow to celebrate our 8 year wedding anniversary. This will be the first time we have rented any of the cabanas, and we are looking forward to relaxing near the beach with this upgraded experience. We scored a 20% off deal by booking at the right time in our Cruise Planner. With no tours or excursions planned for Nassau, Bahamas and this extra savings, I could justify renting one of these for the cruise. We will make sure to get off the ship ASAP and take pictures of the updated facilities and ongoing improvements occurring at the island.

Our First “Real” Diamond Cruise

Technically, we were officially diamond cruisers on our Harmony of the Seas cruise this past January. But, given the discount on the drink package and the number of venues on the ship, we never really took advantage of our benefits. With this shorter cruise, we plan on taking advantage of our status with Royal Caribbean. This means stepping foot in the onboard “Diamond Lounge” (on deck 12 in the Viking Crown Lounge on Majesty of the Seas) and getting our complimentary drinks. In addition, there are a few other benefits and coupons for being Diamond, and we plan to take full advantage of these discounts.

Exploring a New Ship

This will be our first time cruising on Majesty of the Seas. While the ship might be a bit smaller than the ships on which we usually sail, our Embarkation Day rituals will remain the same. We will start by heading to the top deck to do our photo tour of the ship (stay tuned for social media updates). There is just something exhilarating about getting on a ship for the first time. Even though the names of many venues are the same as other Royal Caribbean ships, the setup and decor is always a little different. Also, we have been reading reports of a few “hidden’ gems on the ship and look forward to discovering these unadvertised experiences.

Our Sailing on Majesty of the Seas Was Free

Technically, we still had to pay for the taxes and port fees, but who could pass up a free cruise? Thanks to our Royal Caribbean credit card, we were able to redeem our points for this pre-holiday weekend cruise. We opted not to upgrade the room, sticking with the covered Ocean View stateroom (similar to our cruise on Enchantment of the Seas). More cruising means more cruise points, and more points means more free cruises. It is a vicious cycle, but we will take it. If you were wondering, we already have another cruise booked to redeem more points. This one will be a 7-night Southern Caribbean cruise on Freedom of the Seas in 2019, but there are plenty of other sailings booked in between as well.
